There seems to be alot of mad people at track. I want to apolagize for mistakes and poor judgement from drivers in my car # 87. I can promise it wont happen again. I just want to ask what would you do if someone threatened you they were going to roll your car. I take these threats serious. because this is someones life you are talking about .just wandering..

Do just what you have done here only in person. Go to the person making the threats and apologize if indeed you have caused the current situation. If they refuse to accept your apology, then you have no choice but to inform the track officials of the posssible impending situation. A few years ago there was a similar situation developing for the last race of the season with several drivers threatening pay back. The track officials were notified of the car numbers that were involved and they (track officials) kept a close eye on those cars. Nothing serious happened.

The track used to have a rule that if you were a new driver, you started at the back for the first two weeks. I believe this was a good idea. It gives a new driver a chance to learn before being thrown into the middle or even the front of the pack from the luck of the pill draw. When you start a race you can voluntarily elect to start at the rear which I think would be a good idea to show your good faith judgement following your apology for past mistakes.

A couple weeks ago the #46 elected to start at the rear because of a mechanical situation. That's a hard decision to make because of the natural instinct for a driver to want to win. Sometimes there are more important things than winning.

I would say most of the threats are just in the heat of the moment. I've had a number of times where I have had to take a walk out in the parking lot to cool down. When drivers get a chance to cool down things go a little better. I would have to say from my experience at the track its usually just talk. The last race of 2005 it seemed like everyone was mad at someone. I'm not sure what happened but there were at least 5 people who said they were going to take someone out because it was the last race and they didn't care what happened. Nobody actually did anything and the race ended up being one of the cleanest all year with no wrecks. Usually its just talk.

If someone actually does intend to wreck someone or does intentionally wreck then they should be kicked out. If you really feel in danger then you should alert the officials to the situation. Its not just the driver they are trying to wreck that is at risk it puts the entire field at risk. Someone might take out one driver and 5 other innocent people pile up and get involved.

Greg Biffle told a good story on speed channel Sunday night. He said back when he ran late models he was toward the front and had a tire going down. He caught a slow lap car so he figured he would spin that car out to get a yellow flag so he could pit and change tires. The next lap he came around and the car he spun had the nose crushed up to the dash. Someone had hit the car he spun out head on and destroyed both cars.

The best thing you can do is learn from your mistakes and try to get better. There are times when things are going to happen and you have to try and figure out what you could have done differently. Drivers are going to mad but it should just blow over.
